Justice Rangajeeva Wimalasena receives Outstanding Award for Law

We are delighted to announce that  Justice Rangajeeva Wimalasena, Judge of the Supreme Court of Papua New Guinea, and former President of the Court of Appeal in Nauru was the winner of the GG2 Leadership and Diversity Award for Outstanding Achievement in Law held in London on 25 March 2026.   The award was given to recognise Justice Wimalasena’s leadership in promoting the Nauru Declaration on Judicial Well-Being and the continued work in this area including the UN International Day of Judicial Well-Being.

See our page on Judicial Well Being for further information on the work being done in this area.  The CMJA was represented at the Awards Dinner by the CMJA Secretary General, Dr Karen Brewer and CMJA Member, H.H. Judge Kaly Kaul made the presentation of the Award on behalf of GG2.

Prior to the Awards Dinner, Justice Wimalasena, HH. Judge Kaul and Prof Cheryl Thomas from University College London visited the CMJA’s offices to meet with the CMJA Secretary General.
